BUDGET

The budget committee has the responsibility for developing the annual budget. The treasurer is designated as the committee chairman. The committee has the following responsibilities:

Determine the associations needs and probable costs

Review the programs proposed by the program committees, including detailed expense projections

Review past budgets, income, and expenditures

Estimate probable income from all sources

Balance probable income with probable expenses


MEMBERSHIP

The membership committee has the responsibility of designing the membership and outreach promotion and planning yearlong activities that promote continued membership growth and active involvement. The committee has the following responsibilities:

Plan a membership promotion campaign

Fill in and distribute membership cards

Maintain membership database

Send invitation letters to teachers, administrators, school board members, community members, and other friends of PTA

Provide information about PTA’s purpose and activities, using as many methods of communication as possible

Submit articles to PTSA school newsletter, Web site and local newspaper(s)

Send public service announcements to local TV and radio stations


REFLECTIONS ART PROGRAM

This committee will lead the Reflections program, a national PTA-sponsored, arts-in-education recognition program which encourages children to express themselves through literature, art, music, photography, dance, and film/video. The committee has the following responsibilities:

Work closely with appropriate PHS faculty members to promote student participation

Collect all entries and submit as designated by program officials

Schedule and conduct an awards ceremony recognizing school winners


PROGRAMS

The programs committee has the responsibility of designing and successfully implementing programs that meet the expressed needs of the PHS community (students, parents, faculty, staff, and interested community supporters). The Vice President of Programs is designated as the committee chairman. The committee has the following responsibilities:

Plan effective programs based on the needs and input of the PHS community

Work with the principal and community leaders in developing impactful programming of value to the PHS community

Facilitate the execution of program plans

Spread the word about programs through PTSA meetings, PTSA website and newsletter, as well as local newspaper(s), radio, and TV stations

Encourage participation in the programs

Evaluate effectiveness of programming


BRICKS FOR EDUCATION

The Bricks for Education committee has the responsibility of promoting the sales of engraved brick pavers that adorn a brick path near the front entrance of PHS. These pavers promote preservation of special memories for posterity along with raising funds for PTSA projects and programs. The committee has the following responsibilities:

Promote and sell engraved bricks

Reach out to the alumni and the community partners to order bricks

Keep brick area neat and clean

Place brick order with local brick provider

Pick up brick orders and place bricks into location at PHS


COMMUNICATIONS

The communications committee initiates communications from the PHS PTSA to its members and the community at large. The committee has the following responsibilities:

Maintain the PHS PTSA website

Create and distribute the PHS PTSA newsletter

Manage communications on social network sites: Twitter and Facebook

Publicize PHS PTSA events

Work with all other committees to solicit content for newsletter and website

Assist other committees with event promotion


WAYS AND MEANS

Develop a fundraising plan for the year

Work with PHS business partners in raising funds

Pursues available grants to meet PTSA budget goals


NOMINATING COMMITTEE

The nominating committee is responsible for reviewing nominations for the officer positions and nominating one person for each office to be filled. The committee has the following responsibilities:

Reviewing all officer nomination forms

Deciding on one nominee per office

Developing a slate of nominees

Providing the list of nominees to the general membership

Accepting nominations from the floor during the election meeting


TEACHER APPRECIATION

The teacher appreciation committee is responsible for developing and implementing programs that demonstrate PTSA’s appreciation for the efforts for the PHS faculty and staff. The committee has the following responsibilities:

Coordinate acts of appreciation throughout the year for PHS teachers

Work with the administration and PTSA faculty representative to determine how PTSA can assist teachers

Promote the PHS paper drive for teachers


STUDENT RECOGNITION

The student recognition committee is responsible for working with the PHS faculty and staff to implement and support existing programs that recognize students for exemplary performance in a variety of areas. The committee has the following responsibilities:

Work with faculty and staff in recognizing exemplary students in a variety of areas

Review any requests for PTSA sponsorship of students


HOSPITALITY

The hospitality committee is responsible for creating a warm, friendly, and welcoming atmosphere at all PTSA events. The committee has the following responsibilities:

Assist with setup of room for meetings and special events

Assist with clean up and restoration of room to original order after the event

Work with various committees to assist with greeting as needed

Coordinate refreshments for meetings as needed

Coordinate the serving of refreshments

Provide sign in sheet for meetings

Provide a meeting headcount
